Marketing Associations Institute Email Marketing Guidelines

Three marketing associations, the Association of National Advertisers, Direct Marketing Association, and the American Association of Advertising Agencies have come together to institute guidelines that will establish standards for legitimate email marketing practices. These nine guidelines were based on direct input from association members. The purpose of these guidelines are to institute certain practices that will defend and enhance the viability of legitimate email marketing.
