I often hear people say "Twitter doesn't work for us," that may very well be true, but it may be working against you if you don't know what people are saying. I realize that Twitter can be time-consuming, but it's important to realize even if you aren't there - you may be there because others may be sharing their experiences with your products or services. It's always better to be aware of the buzz, than to avoid the buzz.
Let me give you an example of how Tweeps use Twitter, when I was looking for a coffee maker I started to search Twitter for what others were saying about the brands that I had selected as my options. Obviously, the one that had the best Tweets won. Take sometime today and learn how to monitor the Twitter buzz and see what people are saying about your company and products; you'll be glad you did.
Use the tools I've given you to monitor the Twitter buzz even if you only do it once a week, by not doing it you could be making a very big mistake. You also want to ensure there is some type of buzz, if not it's time to figure out how to get people talking about your product.

I can understand how twitter can work for people who work independantly, but how does this work for an entire company?
The only real way to understand Twitter and it’s amazing effects is to jump right in. In one week I’ve made nearly 200 contacts, more than a handful directly connected to art, galleries, and collecting. Also, the best information about applications and web opportunities are constantly streaming.

We are a buzz marketing company that monitors and measures online conversations happening on social networks. We have recently started monitoring Twitter for our clients and it is amazing how much goes on on Twitter, which is why it is so important for businesses to be aware of it. The influence you can achieve with your audience is unbelievable. For those who aren’t totally into Twitter, I can see how it may seem pointless, but it has been incredibly helpful to our clients. For businesses that need help jumping into the Twitter and social media world, check us out.

We are a B2B Company that uses social media for branding, educational articles and developing a following for our marketing blogs. I personally am on twitter, squidoo, linked in, facebook and write a blog weekly. We have been tracking our social media efforts and have found 65% growth in online traffic. I must admit in the beginning, I was sporadic but over the past two months I have been focusing more on social media and it really does work. We have developed more inbound links from our social media and people are making comments on our blogs and social media. This is a must for any business that wants to stay innovative and grow in an ever-changing market with multi-generations out there to market to.
I enjoyed your blog.

Great posts and comments. The learning curve with Twitter is enormous. I have been working on their biz development for 12 months, and the platform proves that “change is the constant”. Just know, that everyone including Biz, and Ev, the founders, are all learning…
We are all learning together…which makes it exciting and fun.
