Five Guidelines for Outsourcing Your Social Media Marketing
Look, I'm all for free enterprise and entrepreneurship and creating your own empires. What I'm not for is small businesses being taken advantage of by those who claim to be experts, but have no clue of how to market a business using social media marketing methods. This is the reason I write articles that give businesses guidelines that they can go by when selecting marketing firms to outsource to. This week I focus on guidelines you can use when selecting a social media marketing expert or firm.
This all started at a business lunch last week. I was speaking with a business owner and he asked me "Laura, what if I want to outsource my social media marketing, I see the benefits, but I simply don't have the time. What should I look for?"
Great question, as I mentioned earlier in this post truth is in today's economy when people become unemployed they immediately entitle themselves as "social media experts." A social media expert is a person who does more than sit and eat Cheetos, while watching Jerry Springer and tweet all day.
There are many out there that claim to be social media experts, there are few out there that can prove they are worthy of this title, so let me see if I can help. Take a few moments and review the five guidelines that I provided to you regarding outsourcing your social media marketing. I think this will help you when it comes to outsourcing a social media marketing expert or firm and ensure that you are selecting someone who has the skills and experience to get you the results you desire.

Hey Laura – thanks for the article. As many here North of the Border have ascerted – you need to be extremely careful in labelling yourself as an “expert” without at least a healthy set of case studies with quantifiable results…being able to sift through the “chatter” out there by so-called experts by following your guidelines should definitely help. Cheers,
Andy
Hi Laura,
This is helpful content. I am Tweeting it!!
Thanks for the great advice, but be warned that your site carries a Web of Trust warning against it – thought you should know!
Cheers

Hi Lara,
Thanks for the great information
Great article, you are so correct to put these tips on here as there are endless amounts of advertisiements relating to social media marketing appearing daily now….very useful practical tips to apply when selecting an outsourced provider…thanks Laura
Hi Laura,
You are soooo dead-on the mark about self-proclaimed social media marketing experts!
I’m no expert but I read all the time on the internet about all business applications just to see what’s out there and what “tricks” are being done to people. When I got on facebook I did so for social media marketing for my business but I soon learned a realality… if facebook is saturated with “experts” all trying to “help”(sell) same thing with them, then who is left to be helped, or be sold to??? crazy nuts! I’m glad you’re pointing this out to everyone. I have a new name for these aggressive so called, self-proclaimed experts(salespeople) from now on we should all label them: “Shark Marketers” and label their practice “Shark Marketing” this will be a negative connotation to quickly identify these idiots and let them know we are onto them. Great post Laura and keep it up! Dave
Couldn’t have said it any better. All of a sudden ‘experts’ from the La-La Land Niches now claim to outsource any other guru for $97 or $47 price. I am new starter real estate investor business. And I am for the homeowners in need of help to “stop foreclosure with short sales” and solve their problem. In fact, one of my websites are “stop foreclosure with short sales.” So I applaud every bid of your post.
