Truth be told, I don't mind the Facebook changes. I realize that Facebook is on the cutting edge and that they find the need to tweak things now and again. However, there are times that they move something and it totally frustrates me, so I spend time going on a hunt to relocate that missing feature or application, sometimes I find it other times I find that it's just not available anymore.
This week I encountered just that scenario. I thought perhaps they had deleted a familiar feature...but no they just moved it!
Thanks Facebook for once again making me feel like an idiot because of a design change. Can we just keep things where they are please? Every time I get used to something you move it and I like most people get all confused.
Ok, back to the story. In a training that I was conducting I was asked how you can setup an event from your Facebook Fan Page, rather than your personal profile. As I begin to show the process I noticed that Facebook had changed the location of this feature.
Don't worry it's still there, but it's in a different place. The steps are just a tad different.

Hi Laura:
Is there some way to update your fan page status without it also appearing on your personal profile? I haven’t been able to find a way to do it, but then again, as you say, FB is not the most intuitive tool in the bunch!
For example, when I click the Friends link, I’d expect it to bring up a list of my friends, much like LinkedIn does when you click Contacts. But noooo! It brings up some suggested friends I might be interested in. Yes, there are sub links for Recently Updated and Status Updates under friends, but I just want to access the entire list of my friends. Sheesh!
Best,
Randy D.
Randy happy to help.
Can you show me an example of when you post on your “fan” page that it shows up in your personal profile? Mine does not do this.
As far as your friends list, if you go to your personal profile and click on the link that has the “#” Friends on the left hand side (it’s right above the photos of your friends) it will bring up a list of the people you are friends with
Hi Laura,
I’m unable to find the events link under edit page for my fan page. I see an events/contest FBML where I can put html into a text box, but I don’t have the option to publish and that’s really the function I need. What am I missing here? I don’t see any other mention of events on this page.
Jacci, when you click Edit Page you should be given a list of settngs and applications. It’s right under Applications and right above More Applications entitled “Events.”
Hi Laura,
I’m not seeing this under my applications. The person who managed the fan page before me put in a lot of new tabs, and I think they may have deleted this tab in favor of events and contests. But this new tab does not allow me to publish. I went under new apps and searched events. I found Events by Facebook, added it to my page and still don’t see it under applications after refreshing. Do you know why it wouldn’t be displayed under my fan page? This is so frustrating!
Jacci, if you are not the creating admin that could be the problem, some features may be disabled for you.
Hi,
I made a bit of a mistake…I made an event under my personal profile page and presumned that i could make my fan page an admin so i could invite all my fans too…but i can’t seem to do this!
Do you know a way that i can invite fans to a event created on my personal page?
