We started by creating content, a white paper. Then we built a website and started writing a blog. We kept creating and publishing content. We started making connection on social media. We defined our keywords and put them into everything we did.
How Did It Work?
Yes. We now have 40 Linkedin recommendations, 3,600 twitter followers and a bunch of delighted clients. Ironically, most of our clients have come from readers of our blog - no outbound expense.
We're also doing far more speaking, like the Aprimo Marketing Summit and the Eloqua Experience. It's important to get out their and network, all the time.
I also suggest you work the phone and emails - but don't sell. Instead, invite them to visit you online.
Advice
- Know your customers - cold
- Focus on solving their problems
- Publish content and keep doing it
- Stay at it. It is a long road.
- Build an awesome online presence - YouTube, Slideshare, Facebook, etc.
- Invite people to join you.
- Don't be average. Be exceptional.
