SmashMyViper.com - Buzz Marketing or Virtual Hype?

Girls...Fast Cars...Pixel Selling. Is that all it takes to create buzz marketing? I'll admit the idea of destroying a Viper, pretty intriguing, but haven't we seen enough of the million dollar homepage ideas?

The hype in this marketing air bubble I think has a slow leak and the effectiveness is dim. I'll agree we all kicked ourselves when the first one evolved and someone actually earned a million dollars by selling website pixels, so they say. There was never any proof released and I didn't see copies of the bank deposit slips, but for now I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

I will give some credit to SmashMyViper.com. It is a bit different in the sense that the reason this 23 year old wants to raise money is to begin his own business. Bravo! Perhaps this idea may just give him a dose of business reality. What are your thoughts? Will the idea work? Is this true buzz marketing or is it just virtual hype?
