One great low cost research tool is Google Adwords. Most people use it for advertsing but if you use the advariants feature you can run similar adverts with subtle changes to see which one triggers most responses.

For example if you are promoting a conference centre teh final line of your advert might say “For Up To 500 People” or “Large Car Park” or “Close to Interstate” or Close to Airport”. This will provide research data on what prospects find most compelling.

Sure marketing research is expensive, but you have to also consider your options. Depending on which stage your business is in you could spend days, weeks, or even months researching and effective marketing campaign. I’d suggest that if you’re in the beginning phase of starting a business and need any print work (business cards, etc.) or graphic design done for your site check out M3Printing. They’re fast, have an awesome customer service, and have great rates. These guys know what they’re doing.
