I work with people looking to buy a mortgage. As a broker I have access to over 40 lenders allowing me to find the perfect mortgage solution for my clients - saving them both time and money.

How Did You Start Marketing Your Small Business?

When I first started marketing my services I participated in a lot of networking events to get my name out there and made contacts with other individuals in the real estate industry (realtors).

I also visited several open houses in order to connect with real estate agents.

Running parallel to these activities, I found it invaluable to have a website presence to send my contacts and prospect to. I also created a blog which I added to regularly. All of these worked together to create a strong presence both in person as well as online.

How Did It Work?

The strategy above has worked very well.

Going out and meeting people allows prospects and potential partners to get to know me - the real me. People do business with people they know and trust. Networking give me an opportunity to meet someone and get to know them.

The online component is equally important as it builds credibility. My prospects can research my experience, read testimonials and read what I have written on various industry topics. This builds my credibility and respect. People can see that I really do know what I am talking about!

Advice

  • People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care!
  • Always use multiple approaches to your marketing strategy - don't put all your eggs in one basket!
